Coaches Meet President Bush

May 26th, 2008 by Michael Medallion · 1 Comment

President George W. Bush met with Tommy Tuberville (Auburn), Charlie Weis (Notre Dame), Mark Richt (Georgia), Jack Siedlecki (Yale), and Randy Shannon (Miami) today and thanked them for going overseas to boost the morale of the troops. Here’s the video from the press conference:

Ivan Maisel at ESPN has a complete run-down of their trip to visit the troops. Of particular note, while overseas, Tuberville and Richt coached the winning team of troops in a flag football game. As he was being carried off the field after the game, Tuberville, never one to miss an opportunity to take a jab at the Saban worshippers Alabama fans, threw up 7 fingers in the air, much like when he wore a “Fear the Thumb” t-shirt after the 2005 season. Auburn goes for its 7th win in a row against Alabama this season. Well, one thing’s for certain, Paul Finebaum couldn’t be happier…the phone lines to his radio show should be busy all week with outraged Bama fans. We’re sure the word “classless” will get mentioned a few times by the Bama callers.
