There was a dream that was Powe. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile.
The Legend of Jerrell Powe may see its climax in the coming weeks, so says the always unbiased and never agenda-driven Clarion Ledger. Apparently a new SEC policy regarding non-qualifiers who make qualifying grades as a university student can be deemed eligible to play by the conference. Word is expected from Commissioner Mike Slive soon and rumors are swirling that a favorable conclusion is inevitable. But then again, Ole Miss fans have heard all of this before.
Powe’s legend has grown to such mythical proportions that we almost expect him to consume the opponent’s offensive line with fireballs from his eyes and lightening bolts from his arse on his very first snap. The first 15-star recruit in the history of fan-boy recruitnicking, should he be deemed eligible, would strengthen an already formidable Ole Miss defensive line the features standouts Peria Jerry and Ted Laurent.
