Saban, Miles Visit the Port City

June 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Both Nick Saban and Les Miles visited the land of riverboat casinos, Watertown, and the All-You-Can-Eat Waffle House, otherwise known as Shreveport, LA on Thursday.  Sheveporters, like Tim Brando, took time off from oogling Hollywood celebrities like Val Kilmer and Oliver Stone to see Saban inducted into the Weedwacker Independence Bowl Hall of Honor for his 1-1 record as a head coach in the bowl game (losing to LSU as coach of Michigan State in 1995, winning last year as the messiah coach of Alabama). Suprisingly, no batteries were thrown at his head during his speech. Polite and cordial LSU fans, who would have known? Meanwhile, Miles, sans hat, was busy holding a football camp for middle school kids. Looking at this photo, Les seems to be going with the Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez coaching method for his camps:

Note, this was a FREE camp. Considering that Les’ coaching style is mostly comprised of “luck” anyway, we aren’t too surprised to see kids closing their eyes hoping to catch the ball. That’s probably what he tells his receivers to do at LSU. Though, both Les and Saban missed out on seeing one of the better things that has come out of Shreveport in a while. Miss Shreveport Hannah Moore (keep reading to to see her photo)…

was busy competing in the Miss Louisiana Pageant over in Monroe, LA on Thursday night. Miss Moore easily won first place in fitness and swimsuit at the Pageant:
