Raycom Has No Faith in the Three Daves

June 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

Over the years, SEC Football fans have grown to loathe the Jefferson Pilot Lincoln Financial Raycom Sports early-morning football game broadcasts. Whether it’s due to the fact that they will have to sacrifice tailgating all day to sit in the stands for a football game at 11:30 in the morning or have to hear the “Three Daves”  – Dave Neal, Dave Baker, and David Archer (Ed. Note: it’s not the same as the Original Three Daves, but it’s still not very good) - nauseating play-by-play and commentary on the TV, SEC football fans fear the dreaded announcement that their school will be playing on Raycom on Saturday. Raycom has tried to ease these tensions by, first, finally offering SEC games in HD, though there is still some concern. Now, Raycom will give their viewing audience an alternative to listening to the Three Daves: viewing interactive webpages  on the internets for each game. In announcing this joint venture with Jacked Inc., Raycom has finally recognized that the Three Daves aren’t very good:

“There’s only a finite amount of time you can have the announcers talk about things on the telecast,” said Frank Kay, a spokesman for Raycom Sports. “Here’s a way to go to one place during the game to give fans the full picture about what they’re watching.”

Thankfully, we at FOTP attend the games for our respective teams so we generally don’t have to listen to the Three Daves except for the occassional commentary overheard from a TV at a tailgate while we are making a bloody mary or early morning bourbon and coke.

These A-holes will ruin at least one Keeneland/UK football doubleheader every freakin year.
