Powe…no one is safe, not even little Suzy
Jerrell Powe, defensive man-child and probable Highlights subscriber, will be cleared to play for the Ole Miss Rebels this fall reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, which could be a hot rod trader magazine for all we know. The official announcement could come as early as today. If true, this will be the culmination of three years of painstaking hoop-jumping for Powe in his quest to become qualified.
Powe’s odyssey began at Wayne County High School where he was a behemoth All-American defensive lineman and apparently not a big fan of reading comprehension. His shoddy grades and suspect test scores landed him in Hardgrave Military Academy in 2005. In 2006, Powe again signed with Ole Miss and petitioned the NCAA for admittance, which was again denied. Law suits ensued. In 2007 Powe again was counted as an Ole Miss signee and, in a landmark decision, the NCAA nominated Powe as a sort of “partial qualifier” and allowed him into Ole Miss but not onto the football field until certain academic marks were achieved. Those requirements now seem to have been met and it seems the looming shadow of Powe on Ole Miss’ sidelines is eminent.
Say what you will about the situation, but you have to admire the kid’s persistence and determination in this thing. By all accounts, he is a great kid who unfortunately was taken advantage of by Mississippi’s public school quagmire. Come August 30th, many Ole Miss fans will be anticipating the arrival of Houston Nutt as their head coach, but we are willing to bet the loudest cheer that day will be reserved for Powe.

Please take the picture down that includes the little girl with Jerrell Powe.
She’s a friend of the family and her family doesn’t want her picture on the internet.
Thanks

Maybe the family should’ve thought about that before they asked him to take the photo? Everything ends up on the internet now.

The family happens to be friends with JP and had no intention of the picture being posted. The family is also very happy for Jerrell…..The little Rebel is looking forward to cheering for JP.

Message for ‘Who Cares’:
The reason I requested it to begin with is because another site was talking about farking the picture. Obviously you don’t have a little girl or you would understand.

Actually I do have a little girl. My daughter wouldn’t be posing for pictures with athletes unless it was for my camera.
