This past weeked we traveled to Nashville, Tennessee for the first time ever to see the Auburn Tigers continue their offensive mediocrity, and the Vanderbilt Commodores improve to 5-0.
Friday:
After a quick bite to eat at the bar at Prime 108 in the Union Station Hotel and then at the bar at The Palm, we took to the bars on Broadway, which is basically the redneck/country version of Bourbon Street.
We guessed that the biggest badass on Broadway probably rode the tricycle. That or one of the various “crazies” that we saw wandering around aimlessly all night. It was the latter.
Saturday:
Due to the fact that in waking up Saturday morning I didn’t remember passing out at the bar at Merchants and got kicked out by the manager, losing my blackberry (though I recovered it later thanks to Sarah and her friends who found it on the street on Friday night), or getting sick in the cab on the way back to the hotel on Friday night, this was as close we got to ESPN’s Gameday.
Unlike the U.S. economy, no one is coming to bail out Auburn’s offense. Since we weren’t up to the task, the guys over at Busted Coverage have some pics of the other signs at Gameday. We agree this was the best of the bunch:
We did make it back down to Broadway for a morning bloody mary at Tootsies (we also had to meet Sarah to get my blackberry).
After a bloody at Tootsies, we headed to towards the Vandy campus and found our way to Sam’s Bar & Grill.
After a few pitchers and some greasy pizza, we walked onto campus for the game…
We tailgated a little higher than we were used to.
And, apparently, there were a few more people at the game than Vandy’s stadium was used to. It was a cluster f*ck trying to get in the stadium. The “security” at our gate was two former greeters at Wal-Mart. These 80 year old ladies even stopped a 7 year old kid to pat him down. His dad then said to me, “I guess it was a good idea I didn’t put my minatures in his pocket.”
Under center, two tight ends, and successful offensive production…too bad it only lasted a quarter. Eventually, the game ended with the Vandy student section realizing what 5-0 feels like.
After the game, we finished the day where we started it back at Tootsies, and we were treated to a very nice looking singer in the band. Can’t remember her name, but they said she was on Nashville Star.
Well, the Auburn Tigers did a great job of spoiling a great weekend in Nashville. What’s worse is that taking Auburn cost me finishing in the money in two of my pools at officefootballpool.com and taking them in The Program’s Picks cost me a perfect weekend…though, even with a 4-1 record, I was still able to take the lead againt Bunkie in the overall standings after an 0-5 start.
