Well, that didn’t take long
It only toook a single weekend for the SI curse to take a potential deathblow to the Ole Miss Rebel football program. First there was the classic “let down” game loss to South Carolina that featured yet another debilitating fumble by Dexter McCluster and now comes word that freak defensive end and massive head case Greg Hardy may or may not be suspended and/or kicked off of the team. We cannot be more accurately vague about this whole thing. [HT: EDSBS and Nafoom].

From the CL and Rebel beat writer David Brandt
In message board land (and apparently talk radio as well), there have been rumors about the demise of one Greg Hardy. I’m obligated to follow up on these rumors of course, so I did, but coach Houston Nutt informed me about 30 minutes ago that Hardy is not suspended, never was, has had a great week of practice, and should be ready for the Alabama game.
So there you go…
And honestly, the rumors were dubious from the beginning because we’ve seen Hardy at practice all week where he’s stayed afterward doing agility drills and other assorted workouts. There’s no question he was in Nutt’s and d-line coach Tracy Rocker’s doghouse after Saturday’s lackluster performance against South Carolina, but apparently it was not a permanent doghouse.
Of course, knowing the topsy-turvy nature of Hardy’s career, something wild in the future could change this. But as of right now, he’s on the team and apparently in the coaching staff’s good graces.
