Shreveport, a place seriel killers and Jared Leto call home
There are very few things more disheartening among SEC fans than the prospects of spending the bowl season at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana . But a mediocre season and an 8th place finish in the toughest conference in the land will get you some nice parting gifts and an all expenses paid trip to the Port City. Teams and fans alike are sure to enjoy the oppressive heat, street violence, and…hey look, casinos! Every week FOTP will be taking a look at which SEC teams have the best chance of going bowling in East Texas the third most glamorous city in the Bayou State.
1. Kentucky: Still in the driver’s seat after a plucky performance against Alabama 2 weeks ago and a let down against Spurrier and Co. this past weekend. They still only need two wins to get elligible and with games against Arkansas, Mississippi State, Vandy, and Tennessee still on the schedule its not out of the realm of possibilities.
2. Auburn. Welcome to the show Plainsmen! After two straight unexpected losses to Vandy and Arkansas (they made Casey Dick look all Division I quarterbacky all of a sudden) and a heaping pile of pressure on Tubs a continued slide and a one way ticket to the Port City could be a possibility.
3. Ole Miss. The bye week gave the Rebs a chance to regroup after a momentum killing loss at home to South Carolina. It wont get any easier this week as Houston Dale leads his lambs into the Tuscaloosa lions den.
4. Tennessee. The way things are going for King Hippo Fulmer, a 6 win season and a place in line at a riverboat all-you-can eat may be a welcome sight. Other than Wyoming, theres not another sure win on the schedule.
5. Miss. State/Arkansas. Jumping back in the picture after upsetting the Dores and the Tigers over weekend, both teams will need to pull a few more suprises to make it past November this year.
