Louisiana…now honoring your bets

There are very few things more disheartening among SEC fans than the prospects of spending the bowl season at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana . But a mediocre season and an 8th place finish in the toughest conference in the land will get you some nice parting gifts and an all expenses paid trip to the Port City. Teams and fans alike are sure to enjoy the oppressive heat, street violence, and…hey look, casinos! Every week FOTP will be taking a look at which SEC teams have the best chance of going bowling in East Texas the third most glamorous city in the Bayou State.

1.  Kentucky.  Was dealt a healthy rogering by Florida over the weekend but still only needs one win to get bowl eligible.  Has games with Mississippi State (who made Middle Tennessee look like a viable football program last weekend), Vandy (who is going predictably running on fumes), and Tennessee (who may be sans Fulmer once these two teams match up).

2.  Auburn/Ole Miss.  Two teams enter Vaught Hemingway this weekend, one team leaves with the inside track to the Port City.  If Auburn can’t get one this weekend its all but over for them with games against Georgia and Bama still looming.  After surviving the crazy house in Fayetteville last weekend the Rebs look to put together the ol’ Lou Brown winning streak in November.

3.  Tennessee.  As bad as they have looked the last few weeks, a four game run to end the season is not out of the question.  Tough one in South Carolina this weekend, then Wyoming, Vandy, and Kentucky to close it out.  Im secretly hoping they can pull it off on the off chance that Clay Travis may want to crash at my house.  Im selfish that way.

4.  Vandy.  Seriously guys, just win one more for the love of Jamie Windborne.  You had it all set up with Duke in town this past weekend and you completely reverted to your usual Vandydom.   Its really enough to make Bobby Johnson want to cuss, almost.
