What deau yeau mean we can’t geaux to the beauxl?
Several South Louisiana legislators with oddly spelled last names are highly upset with the Independence Bowl passing their beloved ULL Ragin’ Cajuns (6-6) for some yankee school (well Illinois, but anything north of say…Little Rock, is considered “yankee”) with the same record. They point to the fact that the Indy Bowl, along with the Sugar and New Orleans bowls, are somewhat subsidized by Louisiana tax payers dollars, and thus Louisiana schools should be selected to the bowls when possible.
In addition, the legislators called for a more stringent review of the budget, in regards to monies given to the bowls, in the next legislative go-round, and even encouraged Louisiana citizens to get involved.
Michot said citizens can do an online search through everything that’s in (budget), but the entire budget is not online. “I’m sure it would be a lot of documents and many pages, but it should be if we’re going to have transparency in government.”
A reasonable request, but highly flawed. Everyone in South Louisiana knows that the internet is how you catch shrimp in the Gulf…and besides, Louisiana’s laws aren’t in any sort of electronic form, but rather written on swamp grass, scrawled in broken French and hieroglyphics.
