Steve McNair Jr.
All the sorted details of his death and rampant speculation aside, Steve McNair leaves behind a wife and four young sons, including his oldest, Steve McNair Jr.. While not wanting to quantify a family’s loss with recruiting stars, its relevant to note that McNair Jr. is a highly sought after wide receiver from Hattiesburg, MS with offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Tulsa, and West Virginia. In an interview this past May, McNair Jr. discussed how his father had helped him through the football maturation process.
“My dad has taught me everything I know, both on and off the field. I use to play QB, but I wanted to move to WR, and he told me to never go against my own will. I moved to WR that year in 9th grade. He told me to play what ever I wanted to play. I ask him for advise on recruiting all of the time, and he lets me make my own decisions, but I certainly listen to what he has to say. I could not get any better advise. He knows the ropes about everything with football. I actually work out with him every offseason, and now that he has quit playing football, I do not know what I am going to do (laugh).
Steve McNair Jr. will be a senior at Oak Grove in Hattiesburg this Fall.
