Upon closer review of the LSU-Alabama footage, even more questionableness concerning the refs is coming to light. Above is a Bama punt on the fourth down in the 4th Quarter (straight from the SEC site) from the 50 yd line (as you can see from the CBS blue line). Running into the kicker on the play gets LSU a 5 yd penalty. This should put the ball right on the LSU 45 yd line, right?
Wrong. See after the jump…
Actually, just a bit more than 5 yds…
Now, granted, Alabama picks up a few yards on fourth down, so it doesn’t matter. But still the refs are blantantly wrong here. It might not be a conspiracy, but it’s clearly incompetence.

I’m a fan of neither school (the other one that was screwed over by SEC refs multiple times), but the second picture clearly shows the Down Marker on the other side of the 50 than the unofficial blue line making the spot correct.

Dont look at CBS’s blue line. Look at the Down marker. It is clearly past the fifty yard line and the blue line is behind the fifty. It isnt like it matters any way we (alabama) still punted. What is going on these days with all the crying about refs…People are breaking film down to the inch lines trying to blame it on the officials.

I understand you guys don’t necessarily want to pick on Alabama, but the game wasn’t as one-sided as it appeared:
On the play that resulted in a safety, prior to that the ball was kicked at the four yard line, but instead it was placed an inch away from the goal.
And the intentional grounding call was questionable as well as Mark Ingram was the intended target in the path of the ball.
And much like the controversial “incomplete” pass, keep in mind on Alabama’s opening drive, Chris Smelley (I believe) made a catch in a similar fashion, which was clearly complete (more so than the evidence shown in the 4th quarter LSU interception controversy), yet the play wasn’t reviewed because “the replay booth was down”.
And lastly, LSU’s WR’s seemed to hold on every Charles Scott run.
But for those who are singling the refs out claiming they’re siding with Alabama, you should seriously rethink that and observe the facts that I presented to you.
