RIP FDWL

November 10th, 2009 by Bunkie Perkins · No Comments

Its gone.  Announcement to come this afternoon.  Nice job Ole Miss students.  Your incessant desire to rage against the machine has left Ole Miss as a whole with one less bit of tradition…that being the song itself, and not the retarded chants that, hey guess what?…has never been a tradition and didn’t really start til sometime around 2005.  Well done, asshats.

Play us off Elvis…

    Copying my comment at RCR:

I’m not surprised… …after reports that students showed up at the start of the NAU game, yelled it louder than ever, then immediately left to go get drunk in the Grove. They wanted to “prove a point,” and they did…they proved they are whiny, narcissistic, greedy, selfish, petulant little assholes who don’t care about anybody else or any “traditions” but the ones they think THEY started. You see, they honestly believe this was something they thought up all by themselves, a “new” tradition, when really it was a bunch of the old guard pissed the Colonel was taken away. I still say we should have just closed the student section for one night. They don’t care about Ole Miss football…they care about the status of being seen in their Vineyard Vines ties and Christian Louboutin heels, bought with mommy and daddy’s money, I might add. But they still have the mindset of moonshine-swilling rednecks. In the meantime they did exactly what the administration expected them to…you don’t think this was truly reverse psychology at work? Add in the students who actually DID want “Dixie” gone and basically had a “How to Get Rid of FDWL” manual thrown in their laps, and the writing was on the wall.

Those privileged little slapnuts don’t deserve FDWL. I just hope it receives a mention in the history books.

[...] Play.Us.Off. RebElvis Weekend 2009 was apparently held during the Ole Miss-Arkansas game. Red, White, Blue, Black, and Gold Elvis sing American Trilogy before 10s of fans in the Grove. Too bad they cut the video because it sounded like they were about to go into Crazy Train. Probably not, but it would have been the awesome. [...]
