BCS Championships and Everyday Low Prices

January 8th, 2010 by · 83 Comments

Last night, a victorious and Gatorade drenched Nick Saban lifted the BCS Trophy high above the well-manicured turf at the Rose Bowl amid throngs of media, players, and fans.  This weekend, the trophy will make its way to Tuscaloosa so that the whole of Bama Nation can view the spoils of victory.  Only a place of honor and distinction would do for such a display.  A place of time honored and revered history among the Crimson Tide faithful…amid $5 DVD bins and the entirety of the Dickies worksuit collection at the local Wal-Mart.

Coach Nick Saban and the tide accepted the BCS trophy in the center of the Rose Bowl field Thursday night. Now, the trophy is heading to Tuscaloosa. This weekend fans can get up close and personal with the sparkling football. The trophy will be on display Saturday, January 9 at the Walmart Supercenter on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, from noon until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, it will be in the Gardendale location on 890 Odum Road from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Fans should be able to have their picture taken with the trophy.

Someone please get us a picture.

UPDATE: We have photos. As expected the Bama nation lined up by the thousands

More photos after the jump…

  • 4 Lame Kitten // Jan 9, 2010 at 9:50 pm

The trophy is on display at WalMart because of an endorsement deal with Dr. Pepper. The University had nothing to do with that.

Laugh all you want , you jealous hillbilly LOSERS!!! You’ve been DOMINATED by the Tide!!

@Lame Kitten The University may have had nothing to do with it…but years of inbreeding and substandard early education had plenty to do with those pictures.

Priceless. These are the Bammers at their finest. I noticed Nicktator was smart enough to dodge this event.

“You’ve been dominated by the tide!”

Really Jethro? Looks like you guys have been DOMINATED by recessive genes and inbreeding far too long. Who wants to bet these people in all these pics are RELATED??

Damn somebody needs to spray for lice. Seriously.

It would NEVER have occurred to me to display such a precious trophy at such a prestigious location. What’s next, Sam Drucker’s Store in Hooterville? “The trophy is on display at WalMart because of an endorsement deal with Dr. Pepper. The University had nothing to do with that.”

Everyone seems too eager to overlook this fact, if Notre Dame had won the BCS NC it would be at a Wal-Mart there in South Bend. Or Austin. Or Gainseville. Or L.A. or anywhere.

I find it extremely disappointing that this blog and people like Matt Hinton, who I actually respect, are publishing this without the one fact that de-fangs how hilarious this might look.

I guess people gotta hate. Roll Tide.

  • 31 Kiffenyourtailin2010 // Jan 10, 2010 at 12:22 pm

    Mr. Lame Kitten,

Yes sir. You sure did dominate at home against an outmanned UT team without a kicker. Talk trash and use our coach’s name with an ignorant twist when your team can put a touchdown on the board. I hope you enjoy your trophy at Walmart this year, because you may not get to play a second string freshman QB in the future.

  • 32 Rachel // Jan 10, 2010 at 12:22 pm

    Matt,
Bless your heart. You obviously know precious little about the South. The South has a rich history of placing importance on family, history, and land. We are soulful and proud. We are intelligent and full of hospitality. There are rednecks EVERYEHERE. There are NASCAR tracks all over the United States. The 4 time Champion, Jimmie Johnson, is from CALIFORNIA. Before you speak ill of areas of which you obviously have limited knowledge, perhaps you should study a little yourself. Perhaps you should even visit us. We’d be glad to have you. Until then, please refrain from speaking poorly of a people and a place of which you have such limited understanding. It just makes you appear ignorant; and no one wants that, now do they?

This story does little to dispel stereotypes about the South. Also I find it very ironic that this is posted on site covering Mississippi.

As for the commenters, our SEC has some great football teams but let’s not pretend our conference is well regarded from an academic standpoint. Vanderbilt aside, SEC schools are lagging behind their counterparts in the northeast and the Midwest by pretty much any reasonable rubric (US News, admissions standards, or otherwise).

There you can see pictures of other people. I don’t shop Wally World unless I have to, but all the pictures from both links in the Yahoo story could be from Anytown, USA.

Alabama the State = The largest collection of uneducated, toothless trailor park trash.

    No trophy can change that….

When you live in a state where people shot their own brother over football, its easy to tell your
priorities are so messed up that a football team is more important than family, God, educating your children, going to the dentist and/or Dr. etc.

Congrats white trash! Your life is complete!
