Nick Saban is short. The tiny little man’s feminine stature is legendary, as is his obsession with covering it up. He’s forced producers to reshoot commercials that didn’t frame him properly, his own statue is behind schedule because he’s rejected every rendition given to him for approval. His short fuse for reporters is legendary as well. Ask a question he doesn’t like and prepare for a verbal spanking from Papa Sabear. A’ight?
When you put these two things together and you have a State Media who simply wants to please Nick Saban, like a shunned child, the end result is a ridiculously pointless exercise executed by a local rag called the Birmingham News: artificially altering a photograph to make it appear Saban is of equal height to rival coach Gene Chizik…
Video explanation after the jump…
I look forward to continued stunts like this enhancing his complex further. Through this I can foresee a time where all Bama fans that approach Nick must hunch down to half his height, but another National Championship and I’m certain Bama fans and the Birmingham News would be happy to bend over as instructed.

Hahaha that is sad. The Bham News must have some sort of real hang-up on Saban being really short. It doesn’t matter in reality but it obviously bother someone that the guy who coaches their team is shorter than the average man.

If the media is willing to help UAT in something so stupid as hiding how short Saban is in comparison to Chizik, what else are they willing to help the universiteh hide? How much moreso would they be willing to hide or cover up if there were something significant that would be embarassing or would tarnish the beloved universiteh image?

Un b e l i e v e b l e………not really. Not with the birmingham news. Some good writers, but a lot of bama homers.

This is not the only picture they rotated. The one after the IB is ever worse:

Hey friend, I’m the creator of that youtube video and I’m more than thrilled that you used it. Do feel free to continue to use any materials I put out there, but I was wondering if you credit the youtube account of WarEagleSoulWest in some way if its possible. Thanks very much!

You Auburn fans are something else. You act like those Alabama fans are obsessed with Saban’s height, yet it’s only Auburn fans that have commented so far on it. Ha!
Hotty Toddy!
10 Ever2Conquer // Aug 9, 2010 at 11:40 am
RebelTodd,
This has less to do with the man’s height than it does about proof that the Alabama media will go to this length to disguise it. Auburn fans are more concerned with the media’s ongoing bias toward UAT than they are about something as petty as a man’s height. There just happen to be similarities with this media stunt and the Alabama fanbase.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my God, I can’t stop laughing at this! I mean seriously? SERIOUSLY?
Talk about a paranoid inferiority complex, you guys practically COINED that term. I know you guys are ONLY known for pulling stunts like this, but COME ON! Are you kidding me, little second-rate stepchildren?
Seriously, guys, this is what you call: paranoid inferiority complex, the main thing Barnzoes are known for, other than being Alabama’s in-state rival.
One day you guys are losing sleep wondering who pays for the family of Mark Ingram’s travel expenses to and from the games every weekend (without considering his father was a millionaire at one point), and the next you’re crying about a photo claiming it was “enhanced” by a major newspaper company who FREQUENTLY ATTEMPTS TO PUT AUBARN (AL) IN THE SAME LIGHT AS ALABAMA. That’s right, I get sick of the B’ham news portraying Aubarn (AL) as if they’re on par with Alabama. Perhaps if I was as obsessed as you guys are, I could come up with millions of left-field theories and conspiracies as to why. But fortunately, I’m an Alabama fan, and I’d rather worry more about winning championships and how my players are currently performing at two-a-days than I would about the little piss-ant cow college located in the magical county of Lee.
Tomorrow you guys will be theorizing how much “Just For Men” Nick Saban uses and try to find a flaw in that.
I swear you guys are, by far, the most desperate, envious, and rival-obsessed fanbase in all of sports. I don’t know whether to laugh at you guys, are pity you. I can understand it’s tough representing a school who houses its students in trailer parks, endorses rodeos, and has a nightlife on par with a church service (in addition isn’t 1/4th of what Alabama is in football), but seriously, you’ll NEVER be anything more than Alabama’s in-state rival as long as you spend more time obsessing over us than you do your very own measly little school and program. But you guys’ heads are stuck so far up Alabama’s ass, you’ll never come to that realization.
I guess I can come up with a theory of my own… the overly obsessed AUtards of Aubarn (AL) truly know Cheez-it, a coach with ONE BOWL WIN (due in large part to his offensive coordinator) and AN OVERALL LOSING RECORD, will never accomplish even a slight percentage of what Nick Saban has; therefore they throw the most ridiculous conspiracies out there in order to bring Saban down to Cheez-it’s level, as seen above.
Instead of spending all this time wishing and dreaming you guys were Alabama, I’d worry more about finding ways to keep Malzahn at Aubarn (AL) for the long run, because as soon as he leaves, you guys are going to be in an unpleasant world of hurt. And all this Alabama obsession is going to make it worse when reality strikes.
NICK $ATAN MAY HAVE WON TWO NASHUNAL CHOMPONCHIPS, BUT COACH GENE CHEEZIT, IS TWO FEET TALLER THAN HE IS!!! WAR DAMN EAGLE HEY! GREAT TO BE A WIRE ROAD TRAILER HEY!!!

I guess you know you have come full circle when the only thing one can hang their hat on is someones height.
15 Bama B'boy // Aug 11, 2010 at 3:05 pm
LOL… barners are so freaking hilarious. this is why the rest of the country laughs at them… they are OBSESSED with all things Alabama and everything is a conspiracy against them.
auburn university: never has a school boasted of so much… after accomplishing so little
16 Paul // Aug 11, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Thanks for that. How about taking the time to create a video comparing their coaching records, trophy cases, and maybe bank accounts next? Or how about SI Covers or level of national media attention.

Dammit who linked us to the AL.com forums

Actually, Juice, my comment was not directed at you, but more towards the envious ones of Lee County.
And I know being an unemployed and single blogger, it does send waves of joy up your spine to have this many hits on a blog. But if you’re looking for work, my company’s looking to hire janitors. Just reply if you’re interested and I’ll send you a PDF application.

Hate to break it to you idiots but the sports editor at the Birmingham News is a barner. Nice work…morons.
22 Bob Turberville // Aug 12, 2010 at 11:06 am
Nick Saban is short? He doesn’t seem to be short of National Championships!
23 Question // Aug 12, 2010 at 10:25 pm
Because such a meaningless, photo-tilting conspiracy seems very unlikely at a reputable newspaper, how do we know the photo on the right is the original? Presuming the Auburn fan who posted this doesn’t work at the newspaper, how did he/she see the original for comparison’s sake? After all, it’s just as likely the photographer mis-angled the camera while taking the shot, creating the tilt on the original image.
