Real Live Football Isn’t 3D Enough for Ole Miss

3rd and long draw plays seen with the magic of 3D!

Pete Boone, no doubt blown away by the visual majesty of 3 dimensional owls in Legends of the Guardians, has commissioned unto the Ole Miss Athletic department to present a 90 second 3 D feature for halftime of this weekend’s Ole Miss/Auburn game.   There is no indication of what the film is about, but lets all hope that Houston Nutt’s freakishly long fingers make a 3D cameo.

Kicking off the halftime entertainment will be what is believed to be a first for college football: the premiere of a 3-D video produced in-house by a university. A total of 60,000 3-D glasses will be distributed in the stadium, and the 90-second video, which has been an ongoing project for University Brand Services, will commence immediately following the second quarter. Matthew Graves, a filmmaker in Ole Miss Media and Documentary Projects, led the 3-D project and said he wanted to produce something that would captivate people in both 2-D and 3-D.

60,000 3D glasses seems like a bit of overkill fo 90 seconds of payoff until you realize that they will also come with a special pair of 3D Croakies…so its a bargain, really…a very fratty bargain.
