If he doesn’t show up in the swan dress, then consider the press conference lost

Craft your finest Iceland music scene jokes and have your umlauts at the ready because it seems that the Ole Miss athletic program is about to hire it’s new athletics director.  As first reported by Neal McCready over at Rivals, Ole Miss is set to hire current Western Kentucky AD Ross Bjork for the same position in Oxford.

Western Kentucky athletics director Ross Bjork interviewed in Oxford on Sunday and Monday, according to multiple sources, all speaking on the condition of anonymity. On Tuesday, according to a source close to the Western Kentucky program, Bjork called his coaches off the road and back to Bowling Green.

Bjork’s hiring at Ole Miss is expected to be announced sometime Wednesday. He could be announced at Ole Miss as early as Thursday, per a source close to WKU.

Reached for comment, Ole Miss Senior Associate AD for Communications and Marketing Michael Thompson said, “I cannot confirm this.” However, the Bowling Green Daily News, citing multiple sources, has also confirmed RebelGrove.com’s report regarding Bjork’s departure for Ole Miss

This hire is a complete departure from tradition at ole miss, as Ross Bjork seems to actually be qualified for the job and has no ties, blood or otherwise, to anyone associated with the University.  Sadly, there are no confirmations that Bjork will be bringing WKU mascot “Big Red” with him at this time.
