Dan Mullen is a Short Knocker

May 1st, 2012 by · 1 Comment

Someone hurry up and place an order for Dan Mullen…POOOOOOOOM!

The results from the Coaches Long Drive competition are in from the Chick-fil-a Challenge golf event that featured the likes of Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, and a man who knows how to enjoy the spoils of victory, Paul Johnson, and if distance off the tee is any indication for on-field success, Miami is going to have a banner year.  Mississippi State, not so much.

The full results from the Long Drive Competition (Coach Division) include:
Al Golden, Miami: 303 yards
Hugh Freeze, Ole Miss: 276.3 yards
Urban Meyer, Ohio State: 271.6 yards
Dabo Swinney, Clemson: 260.2 yards
Randy Edsall, Maryland:  255.8 yards
Derek Dooley, Tennessee: 250.8 yards
Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech: 235.1 yards
Steve Spurrier, South Carolina: 233 yards
Dan Mullen, Mississippi State: 227.3 yards

The article doesn’t say, but there are three things that can be assumed…1) Spurrier sandbagged to prove to South Carolina fans that he doesn’t play all that much golf in lieu of recruiting and 2) Paul Johnson would have hit it further but he insists on playing old persimmon woods and 3) Dan Mullen was just laying up.
