Bunkie Perkins: Ole Miss. This game shouldn’t even be played.  Houston Nutt and Joker Phillips should decide this thing over a game of Battleship or Quarters or something.  The only thing wrong with playing Quarters though is Houston would get a lucky shot in the glass early then call Jimmy Sexton to negotiate to have the game increased to half dollars.

The Geek: Ole Miss. Ole Miss 26 UK23…that is all this game deserves, and all the attention you should give it…move along.

South Carolina +6 @ Arkansas

TJ: Arkansas. I have concerns about a Lattless Gamecock team keeping up with Arkansas on the road, despite Arkansas doing their best to have competitive showdowns with the likes of Ole Miss and Vandy. Also the brothers Stuckey aren’t beyond selling their souls for a sure win here.

MM: Arkansas. In the The Least Anticipated Top 10 SEC Game of the Century, the Hogs cover at home.

BP: Arkansas.   This is typical Arkansas, lull you to sleep with a couple of uninspired showings to only blow the doors off of somebody at home.  That’s the best case scenario…worst case, Arkansas starts slow again, Tyler Wilson’s offensive line gets him killed…like literally dead on the field, and Marquel Wade spears someone in the stands and gets thrown out of the stadium.

The Geek: Arkansas. USC has 14 pts in the two games sans Lattimore including just 218 & 289 yards, vs defensive stallworths Miss St & UT, so not sure how you back them here or how you come up with and adjustment to their stats to look at what a reasonable projection might be…Hogs at home cover, but barely Ark 28 USC 20

LSU +4 1/2 @ Bama

TJ: LSU. Who? Really? Oh, they are playing this weekend? Hadn’t heard.

MM: LSU. Lesticles + Points + Honey Badger + Mingo + Stable of RBs > Saban + BDS + Referees + Trent.

BP: LSU.  When one of the prevailing arguments for an Alabama win is “well it’s in Tuscaloosa”, that probably means the other team is just a little better.  Talent over geography…it’s science, son!

MM: Oklahoma State. The Cowboys replicate what the Sooners did to the Wildcats, but they don’t wait until the second half. OSU big at home.

Houston -28 @ UAB

BP: Houston.  UAB lost to Marshall last week, a game in which Marshall was up 38-0 at half.  The week before Houston beat Marshall by 35.  By that comaparison, Houston should score 73 points in the first half against UAB.  Possibly related, I’m bad at math.

NMSU +33.5 @ UGA-NMSU

TG: NMSU. We loved this game before the 7 day results came back and wiped out the entire UGA backfield, and love it even more now (the line has only gone down 1-2 pts in most places).  Bottom line is that the only way this doesn’t cover is if UGA shuts out NMSU or limits them to 3-6 points…and even then we have about 1/3 of our models projecting less than the line for UGA.  NMSU 20 UGA 38.

The Juice: Auburn. There are probably more appropriate venues for this, but Bunkie will you be in Auburn this weekend? I’d be honored to console you in person.

Mike Medallion: Auburn. Ole Miss doesn’t stand a chance without Bunkie in the stands cheering on his Black Bears.

Bunkie Perkins: Ole Miss.  No real reason to go with the Rebs other than I won’t respect myself around Juice and Medallion if I don’t.

The Geek: Auburn.  Mosely has been very good this year ave 9.1ypa and my guess is will start to open it up this week vs a pretty mediocre Ole Miss D.  While LSU beat up AU pretty bad LW, from a match up /production perspective it wasn’t as bad as the final score indicated, and AU has some great matchups in this game.  We have great model consistency with 4.7yppl for Ole Miss (311yds) as well as 6.6yppl & 454yds for AU.  Hard to see Ole Miss getting much more than 17-20 in this game and we’ve got AU with 30+ in all but one model, with 38-40 in about half.  AU 38 Ole Miss 18.  AU is likely to be one of our recommended plays this week (we are wrapping up the card now but appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-11 plays).  Make sure to check us out at www.thegeeksheetsports.com

Arkansas -10 ½ @ Vandy

TJ: Vandy. Too much Hoggy-tonkin’ distracts the Razorbacks just enough for Vandy to have a shot to win it at the end.

MM: Vandy. The smart kids of the SEC keep this one close.

BP: Arkansas. As long as Tyler Wilson realizes that the 1st and 2nd quarters actually count toward your overall score in a game, I think Arkansas comes out with the cover.

The Geek: Vandy. Don’t be surprised to see Vandy win this SU…yep, I said it, Straight up, and with the ML going off at +300 I’d be tempted to float a small ML play out there.  we have a 35-22 type W for Ark in about 40% of our cross model scenario analysis, which will take us off the play, but that same analysis has a 26-25 Vandy W about 33% of the time, so going off at 3:1 is a pretty fair price.  Well side with Vandy, Ark 30 Vandy 25.

Mizzou +12 @ Tx A&M

TJ: Mizzou. The SEC already published an article declaring Mizzou won, so I know this to be true.

MM: TEXAS A&M. Just to be different.

The Juice: Auburn. You’ve heard of pot brownies? Now imagine pot corndogs.

Mike Medallion: Auburn. Little chance for the first Auburn win in Red Stick since 1999, but a good chance that Auburn keeps it within 20. #nohoneybadger

Bunkie Perkins: LSU.  3 players suspended for drugs just means the rest of the team has better masking agents.  I like that kind of cunning.

The Geek: Auburn. We love AU in this game, regardeless of who is playing QB for AU, RB for LSU, Honey badger in/out, whatever.  LSUATS at home vs SEC is one of the biggest scams going in gambling…they are 26-50 ATS the last 20 years at home in all SEC games, 3-16 ATS when they are a favorite of 14-21, and when they are a favorite vs SEC foes at home it is even worse.

All that said, the loss of Ware is a really big deal and I think puts them in a bad situation as they aren’t about to let Lee try and lose this game for them.  AU has shown an ability to shut down one dimensional run teams (see UF and USC w/ Lattimore), and the only there that scares me is JoJeff running around all Utah State/Clemson style.

LSU D is very good, but has benefited from playing UF w/o Brantly, UT w/o Bray, and only one team has legitimately challenged them deep (WVU who torched them for 440+ passing to the tune of 8.5ypa).  Mosely on the road should be a concern, but the kid average 12.9ypa vs a UF pass D that is allowing only 5.7ypa to Offenses that otherwise ave 6.9ypa so his performance should give the War Eaglers a glimmer of hope.  Given only one half and 7 atts there is not enough statistical support for us to discern anything other than an opinion, but I think that AU is a very solid play, and given the ML is going off at +1040-+1150 (implying a win ratio of 1:12) I wouldn’t be opposed to a small AU ML play.  What the hell, AU 26 LSU 19.

Arkansas -16 ½ @ Ole Miss

TJ: Arkansas. Sorry Bunkie.

MM: Arkansas. Let’s just hope a streaking fake ref runs across the field to make this one enjoyable.

BP: Arkansas.  The good news, Ole Miss fans, is we won’t keep Houston around for 10 years like a certain school in Northwest Arkansas did.

The Geek: Akansas. Every once and a while we get one which leaves me scratching my head, which is what we have here…every bone in my body thinks Arkansas should blow there doors off, and our models are dead on with consistency, unfortunately all with a 20ish pt Ark W…that keeps us off the game as a Recommended Play b/c there isn’t any real line value, but think they are clearly the right side.  Ark 38 Ole Miss 20

Tennessee +30 ½ @ Bama

TJ: Tennessee. Saban will have but one goal in this game: Keep Dooley around.

MM: Bama. Lord Saban knows what this game means to his worshipers. Bama wins big.

BP: Tennessee.  Saban’s tyranny actually knows some bounds…approximately 30 points so his buddy can keep his job.

The Geek: Bama. Big rivalry, perhaps the biggest in the SEC…clearly big enough that Mizzou should have to go to the east…I mean we are talking about 30 point favorite type rivalry…no bray and no way you can bet on UT, despite the fact I think they cover…Bama 42 Vols 10

BP: Wisconsin actually has to leave the state to participate in athletic activities.  It won’t matter.

WVU (-14) @ Syracuse

TG: Friday night special…this is one of our recommended plays (We have 9 one of which is a #1 play, our top play).  WVU projects to outgain Syracuse by a 544-282 margin and a +2.1yppl edge with a projected scoring rang eof 42-47 for WVU compared to just 18-23 for Syracuse.  Given just 282 for Syracuse they will need to convert at a very high yards per point ratio (or near perfect game) to manage 17-23 (i.e. 3-4 scoring possessions), while with 500+ for WVU 50+ isn’t out of the realm of possibility.  WVU 43 Syracuse 20.

The Conner Shaw show starts in earnst with poor Stephen being relegated to a guest on the newest season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew…good news for USC is this makes them immediately better and more predictable, bad news is we don’t have any real data to go on.  We have more confidence in a USC team sans Garcia than a pretty mediocre State team, but I don’t see a lot of value until we have a couple games of data on the Conner Shaw Cocks.  USC 28 MSU 24

Last week’s poor performance vs MD set up great line value for this game, as UVA is not very good having barely beat Indiana and Idaho and losing to very mediocre teams UNC and USM.  GT was clearly not focused last week, including comments from some of the team that they were already looking ahead to games with Clemson and VT, so can only imaging the “learning lessons” that Johnson and his staff used this week.  I expect a very focused and motivated effort this week vs UVA which should lead to gobs and gobs of yards and a very dominating performance.  We have great model alignment, GT has great situational advantages, qualifies in a 69-17 match up angle based on projected performance, and Johnson has been a pretty good bet on the road (32-13 ATS on the road as a HC).  This is one of our recommended plays this week, we were 5-1 last week, bring us to 61% this year, and 61% for our career (7 years)…that is about as good as you will get.  We are finalizing the card this week, but should have 5-6 recomnded plays again this week, check us out at www.thegeeksheetsports.com

Auburn +10 ½ @ Arkansas

The Juice: Auburn. Why not?!?! Err, although the better question may be WHY?

Mike Medallion: Auburn. Same as last week, the points won’t matter. Arkansas blowout, or a close, outright win by Auburn. Again, please let it be the latter…especially because I’m making the trip for the game (unlike Bunkie).

Bunkie Perkins: Auburn.  Stop me if you’ve heard this one, Auburn covers the 10 1/2 on the road.  Yeah, it happened last week at South Carolina.

The Geek: Auburn. Ark is a scary match up for AU, but with improving AU D and still potent AU O, particularly vs poor Ark D, think 10 is too much. Auburn 31 Ark 36

Georgia -1 ½ @ Tennessee

TJ: Georgia. It is a forgotten rule in rock, paper, scissors: butt cut defeats perfect hair.

MM: Tennessee. #firemarkricht

BP: Georgia.  Tennessee has no running game and Georgia is coming on as we creep into midseason.  Plus, I won’t put my money behind Dooley in a big game until he actually wins one.

The Geek: Tennessee. We’ve been on UGA as recommended plays the last 2 weeks, but it looks like the lines have caught up to UGA.  No line value to speak of here and this is really a coin flip. UT 31 UGA 20

Florida +14 @ LSU

TJ: LSU. This isn’t High School anymore Mr. Driskel. In fact it isn’t even football. This is a cajun whole-hog roast, and you are the delectable main course.

MM: LSU. Death Valley is bad enough for the opposing fans (#pissbombs), let alone for a freshman making his first start.

BP: LSU.  Freshmen quarterback getting his first start on the road in Tiger Stadium.  Yeah, Ill pass.

The Geek: Florida. This is one of our recommended plays.  UF defense is very good and actually performed very well vs Alabama (from yppl perspective realtive to average).  LSU O is terrible, and absent special teams and Def scores, doubt LSU will get much past 24. UF 17 LSU 25

Mississippi State -17 @ UAB

TJ: UAB. I felt the need to pick UAB based solely on the fact that MSU agreed to play at UAB.

Ohio State  +10.5 @ Nebraska

MM: Nebraska. No chance for THE Ohio State University. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Texas +11 v. Oklahoma

BP: Texas.  In honor of the artists formerly known as the Kappa Alpha Order at Texas.  Those bros party.

ULL (+6.5) @ Troy 

TG. ULL. It won’t be sexy, but we’ve got ULL winning SU in everyone of our models, by a TD+ in about half and every multi-model scenario has a SU W as well.  This is one of our recommended plays this week and i definately recommend shaving off 20-25% of your normal ATS wager for a ML play (it should be going off at +220-+240). ULL 36 Troy 31

The Juice: Alabama. This. Hurts. So. Bad. But picking against Bama with bias the last few weeks. Has. Not. Helped. My. Score. No. Really. Mike. Medallion. Is. Leading. The. Pick. Em. LOL.

Mike Medallion: Bama. Finally, Teh Joose has learned that you don’t bet against the Sabear.

Bunkie Perkins: Bama.  The Crimson Tide defense is playing with the type of violence that most domesticated women in the Florida panhandle should be used too.  And like those women, it will not be pretty.

The Geek: Florida. Every model shows either 0.5-1.5 of value on either side so this is the coin flip of all coin flips…Charlie Cheeseburger (head nod to my Gator friends for that little gem) @ OC gets the nod since he is the one variable in this that should be a surprise.  UF24 Bama 26

TJ: TAMU. Arkansas was the new western kid on the block in the 90s, now they are old news, TAMU has taken over the proverbial SEC role as the new guy who lives too far away for me to ever come visit.

MM: A&M. Kept it close with Okie State, I think they can handle Arky.

BP: Arkansas.  Assuming that Bobby Petrino can piece what’s ;eft of Tyler Wilson together after last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Arkansas should pull this out since A&M doesn’t play both halves of the game anyway.

The Geek: Arkansas. Not sure TAMU is ready for real football yet…pretty much that simple, Arkansas D is pretty bad, but Pigtrino has enough on O to get the W.

Auburn +10 1/2 @ South Carolina

TJ: Auburn. Sigh. I’m doing this because my soul says I am obligated, not because I believe in it.

MM: Auburn. I’m not sure the points matter. It will either be a blowout USC win or Auburn winning outright (thanks to 5 Garcia turnovers). I’ll be praying for the latter as I drive to Columbia on Saturday.

BP: Auburn.  Ah that glorious half point hook.  Lets just hope Stephen Garcia went on a bender the night before.

The Geek: Auburn. 50% of our models have AU winning SU, and by double digets…run with 100% of this years numbers and we get Auburn losing by 15…slip the middle and AU loses by 7 which is what we’ll call for….AU 32 Cocks 39

BP: Georgia Tech.  The Wolfpack can’t stop anything resembling a run play and that’s what Paul Johnson’s team does best.

Utah State +7.5 @ BYU

TG. Utah State. This is one of our recommended plays for this week (we have 8), so check out www.thegeeksheetsports.com to get all the goods…gist is this, BYU is terrible, Utah State is actually really good, and we have them winning SU in nearly every model, so make sure to ping the money line as well, as they are going off at +265 implining a win percentage of about 33% and we have them SU in well over 60% of our outcomes.  Utah State 28 BYU 23
